In today's verse by verse study of the Torah, we will be addressing the following question: How did the Hebrew people of the Old Testament know that it indeed was Yehovah who spoke to them? How could they tell the difference between the thoughts in their own heads, the voice of Elohim, and the voice of the enemy? Think about this idea carefully. Our forefathers were clearly listening to Yehovah BEFORE the Great Commission of Yeshua that we experience today and BEFORE the powerful pouring out of the Holy Spirit occurred in the manner that it did in the book of Acts. Today, we will uncover the deeper truths of Parashat Toledot (Genesis 25:19-28:9), which is the portion of Moses that covers most of Isaac's life, including the birth of his twins, Jacob and Esau. In addition to the importance of words of prayer, we also see the pattern of the power of words in the form of covenants, pledges, and oaths throughout these Scriptures. We will carefully understand exactly why our words are so important from a legally binding standpoint.
