Here is an excerpt from the introduction of the book called “Using SIMPLER Goals”:
After nearly two decades of being a Christ follower, I have seen churches close their doors, I have witnessed pastors step down, I’ve watched multiple church splits, and I’ve seen missionaries give up and burn out.
The truth is that while a lot of people aspire to follow Christ and fulfill His calling on their lives, many will fail. There are specific reasons why this happens. It’s never God’s fault. And it’s not an impossible set of circumstances because what’s impossible for men is possible for God (see Luke 18:27).
The real reason has to do with time and how we steward it.
Time is your most valuable resource. You don’t know exactly how much you have left in your life (no one does). And you can’t acquire more with money. It is a God-given gift, and it must be carefully protected.
The moment you said yes to Jesus and took that first step of making Him Lord of your life, something shifted. You may not have understood it at the time, but you were changed. Your old sinful desires became bland, boring, or a source of grief. You began growing and searching for truth. You began discerning how to hear God’s voice and His leading in your life.
Somewhere along the way, you sought community and churches to attend. These things are normal. But the truth is that no one is going to be looking over your shoulder to make sure you are managing your time wisely and getting the most out of each day. No one except the Holy Spirit, of course. Jesus did not leave us orphans but left us with the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. Part of that process involves time management out of necessity, but most of us have never approached this topic with clear goals, vision, and consistency. Most people do not manage time in a way that addresses their whole being, which is described as “spirit, soul, and body” in 1Thessalonians 5:23.
That’s why the SIMPLER method is necessary.
The secular self-help world is full of tips, tricks, and techniques to manage workflow and maximize productivity. Many of these ideas have also spilled over into the Christian world. While I have tried several approaches over the years, nothing seemed to stick. The worldly philosophies left out the spiritual life and the Christian world was not rigorous enough in the areas of health and wealth to be consistently useful.
The SIMPLER method integrates all core components of your life for consistent success in your relationships, finances, and health. I developed this system after experiencing success with a similar approach I learned from attending a business conference in 2020. These principles have helped me build two homesteads from the foundation up, remain happily married for over 10 years, become a successful author, and create a social media ministry with over 100k subscribers. Even if your life, goals, and calling look different, these principles will work for you if you diligently apply them.
